A holiday gift guide for everyone on your list

Based on reviews, recommendations and a few personal favorites, this comprehensive holiday gift guide should cover everyone on your list!

Chief criteria for adult gifts was either practicality -- something super useful -- or comfort, for the person who has everything but could use a little R&R. Youth gifts were selected for their fun and educational qualities. Each item has been reviewed by hand.

Give the gift of music this Christmas! The Populele ($149), dubbed the first smart ukelele, changes the way you learn music. The ukelele's light-up fret board connects pairs with a companion app over Bluetooth, showing you exactly how to play a song and giving beginners an early taste of the satisfaction of making music. "The Populele strikes a nice balance of price and quality," wrote one reviewer, who learned to play ukelele in 15 minutes with this high-tech instrument.

Bath Stories -- Once Upon a Mermaid ($25) by Tiger Tribe will provide endless bathtime fun. Eighteen mix-and-match pieces stick to the side of the tub (or tiles) and come with a bath-shaped plastic container with drainage holes and suction cups for handy drip-dry storage. Recommended for ages 3 and up. Tiger Tribe carries similar bathtime sets titled Once Upon a Pirate, Once Upon a Farm and Once Upon a Jungle (same price).

Sometimes the sweetest things come in the smallest packages! This adorable mouse by Maileg is sure to delight on Christmas morning. Little Sister Pink Star Mouse in Box ($26) stands four inches tall and rocks her pink leotard and matching tutu. Her matchbox comes complete with a mattress, pillow and blanket so she can be tucked in lovingly every night (or every hour!). The Maileg mouse family includes Big Brother Bow Tie Mouse in Box and Christmas Mum and Dad Mouse (who share a matchbox).

LEGO Friends Snow Resort Off-Roader ($14.99) packs a lot of Minnesotan fun in one compact box (ages 6-12). Comes with a mini Emma doll, a snowboarding ramp, a snowboard, helmet, suitacse and map that you can load in the trunk of the SUV (2" high, 4" long, 1" wide), "which is sturdy and really cute," notes one reviewer. "Definitely worth the price."  For bigger-ticket items to entertain Emma, consider LEGO Friends Snow Resort Ice Rink ($29.99), Snow Resort Chalet ($39.99) or Snow Resort Ski Lift ($59.99)

Wolf Cub Hats ($63) by The Woodcutter's Daughter will turn heads and keep your favorite young Minnesotan warm all winter. These gender-neutral hats are expertly designed to maintain that darling elf-like point. The hats are made of wool and fully lined with faux fur and stretchy jersey ties that don't itch. Available in a host of colors, including some patterns, sized for newborns up to 4T.

After an extensive Etsy search for a wreath with antlers, this emerged as the clear winner: an option bursting with rustic cheer, featuring perfectly sized antlers, a winsome buffalo-plaid ribbon, berries and faux greenery that will greet holiday visitors year after year. You won't find a more attractive Christmas wreath. Best of all, the 18-inch Antler Wreath ($62) by StyleTheSeasons is created by a Minnesota mom! Follow her crafting adventures on Instagram to see her hand-crafted wreaths designed for every season, including gorgeous tulips, peonies and hydrangeas

While you're decorating, spring for these darling handmade felt ornaments by TextilesByBecca. The felt deer ornament ($12.42) hangs on gold-and-white bakers twine, and the felt mushroom ornament (6.84) delivers a dose of woodland whimsy -- perfect for a Christmas tree or as a gift topper. This cheery, low-cost gift would delight anyone on the list: a teacher, a neighbor, a hip college student. Felt is so in! (You might have to order one for yourself too.)

There's a reason Oprah selected this Lands Downunder Navy Buffalo Check Throw ($128) for this year's Favorite Things list: It's the coziest! "Not only do I want to see this cashmere-soft throw on my sofa," Oprah wrote in the December issue of O, The Oprah Magazine, "but I'd also wrap it around my shoulders on a chilly night." These throws made in Italy are 51" wide and 67" long and also available in caramel, gray and light pink. Perfect for a beloved grandparent, godparent or babysitter.

There's nail polish and then there's Ilnpbrand's holographic nail polish, which brings the party to your fingertips. Available in a host of dazzling colors, including the Juliette Rose Gold Holographic Nail Polish ($10), 100% Pure Ultra Holographic Nail Polish ($10) and the Interstellar Navy/Teal/Purple Holgraphic Nail Polish ($10), give them as stocking stuffers or order a boxed set of five.
