2024 Youth Birding Competition

Calling all young bird enthusiasts! Think you have what it takes to find the most bird species in a day? Team up with friends and/or siblings to bird the Hastings area or your own backyard in a 24 hour competition. Participation is FREE, and all teams will receive a prize! All skill levels welcome!
COMPETITION STRUCTURE
You can choose to compete in one of two categories-
1). Hastings Count Circle – Explore Carpenter Nature Center and other location in Hastings while trying to find as many species as you can. View boundaries online by visiting: https://tinyurl.com/hastingsbirdingmap
2). Backyard Birder – Perfect for those who want to stick closer to home. All birding must take place within eyesight of your house. Not limited to Hastings, participants can join from out of area!
Age Groups:
Teams are organized and judged by age groups. If the team has kids with varying ages, than the team will be designated by oldest participant’s age.
10 years & under
11-15 years
16-18 years
Time Frame:
Hastings Count Circle, 12:00am – 4:00pm
Backyard Birder, 12:00am – 11:59pm
