Party For The Planet – Como Zoo

Honoring the spirit of Earth Day is part of our mission every day at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, where our annual Party for the Planet, is a two-day weekend celebration on April 20 and 21. Bring the family for a fun weekend of activities, interactive Story Theater, crafts, games, giveaways, and education programs that explore animals, plants, and people who depend on this big blue ball.

With family-friendly activity stations, a lively story theater offering from our friends at Children’s Theatre Company, cool conservation tips from our partners at Xcel Energy, and splashy public programs like our Blaze Sparky Show, Party for the Planet is a great way to learn more about what you can do to protect our environment on Earth Day and every day.

Visit with the Children’s Theater Company (CTC) to participate in a seek & find around the zoo, see how far you can frog jump, and make a frog or toad puppet to take home! CTC professional Teaching Artists will also be leading 30-minute Story Theatre sessions for kids and their grown-ups to participate in active games and theatre exercises that will spark imagination, promote creativity, and bring the Frog & Toad book to life!

Always a fan favorite, Xcel Energy’s Energy-Efficient Tiny House will make a return to Como. Stop by and explore this interactive station as you discover ways you can conserve energy at home. Take the Save Energy Pledge and become a champion of conservation – and be registered to win a prize pack, with the opportunity to participate in a Como Zoo penguin meet and greet, an Ecobee Smart Thermostat, Google Nest Mini and energy-efficient LED light bulbs!

Visit the Como Friends table at Party for the Planet for a free tree sapling and to learn more about how we provide Como with the extra care and funding it needs to thrive for generations to come.  And don’t miss the new exhibit in the Visitor Center that tells a visual story about the impact of philanthropy and gift shop purchases at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory.
