As the neighborly forest animals gather in the rabbit’s den – under Mr. McGregor’s Garden – for a surprise party for Peter Rabbit, the small creatures soon realize Mr. McGregor has terrible plans for the land around Peter’s burrow.
Featuring beloved characters from the classic Beatrix Potter tales, Into the Burrow encourages us to find strength in community and to stand up for what is right. This award-winning musical reminds us that no matter how small or helpless we may feel, together we can save our communities.
“I wrote Into the Burrow in the aftermath of the COVID shutdown. At the time, I wanted to write something for young people to help them see ways to work through grief and loss,” says writer and Mixed Blood’s Artistic Director, Mark Valdez. “Kids have all the feelings that adults do, but not all of the words to process those emotions. We are doing this play for the kids who were impacted by Metro Surge. Those who couldn’t go to school or who, perhaps, had a friend leave before they could say goodbye, or maybe they were caught in the violence or they attended a protest. This play is for them and for all of the Twin Cities.”
The cast of INTO THE BURROW: A PETER RABBIT™ TALE features Juan Unzueta, (reprising his Alliance Theater role) as Peter Rabbit, Julia Díaz as Benjamin Bunny, Danny McHugh as Jeremy Fisher, Em Adam Rosenberg as Mr. Alderman Ptolemy Tortoise, Maureen Sherman-Mendez as Mrs. Tiggywinkle, and Kate Marie as Squirrel Nutkin.
The musical features songs from six composers: Christian Albright and Christian Magby, Brandon Bush, Annmarie Milazzo, Divinity Roxx, Jacob Ryan Smith, and Eugene Russell IV.

Showtimes: Fridays – 7pm (Oct 2 and Oct 16 only), Saturdays – 2pm, Sundays – 2pm
Performances will be at Mixed Blood’s Historic Firehouse in the Alan Page Auditorium.
