Kids from 5 to 95 will have a great time at our fun-filled family event: Minnesota Mineral Club’s Annual Rock, Mineral & Gem Show ! Check out our black-out tent where you will see glowing colors of fluorescent minerals. Visit our Kids’ Corner and choose one or all of the activities offered there: locate copper nodules using a handheld metal detector, spin the wheel and learn about the specimen you’ve landed on, or start your own rock collection and learn about some of Minnesota’s abundant minerals. Watch demonstrations of lapidary arts like polishing rocks, faceting semi-precious stones, wire wrapping, or cleaning and preserving dinosaur bones. See many collections of beautiful agates, fossils, jewelry, crystals and carvings. We partner with the Science Museum of Minnesota & the Geological Society of Minnesota and they always bring fascinating specimens. Have a favorite rock and don’t know what it is? Bring it along for our team to identify! There are hourly door prizes and an eye-popping grand prize for one lucky person! The event encompasses over 60 indoor and outdoor vendors and we have food trucks to satisfy your hunger. An ATM is on site and parking is free! The whole family will enjoy this earthly treasure event!
