Seasonal historic site with tours & costumed interpreters recounting a day in the life of a pioneer.

A combination tour of the Gibbs Farmhouse, one-room schoolhouse, Dakota Bark Lodge and Tipi will be offered every hour on the hour. All public tours and hours will be walk-in only (pre-registration not required). Special events (noted on our calendar) will require pre-registration. Tours will have a capacity limit of 10 guests. Please sign up for your tour as soon as you arrive on site. Face masks are recommended when indoors.

Tours are optional with admission and you are welcome to just enjoy a stroll around our 8-acre site (we have a beautiful restored prairie landscape and farm animals!). We encourage you to bring a picnic lunch or snacks to enjoy at our picnic tables.

Ramsey County Historical Society offers unique, hands-on programs at the eight acre Gibbs Farm historic site. Costumed interpreters provide a glimpse into nineteenth century pioneer and Dakota daily life. Our local history comes alive through stories, crafts, gardening, animal husbandry, and more. You will see and experience original and replica buildings, including a log-and-sod home, the original Gibbs farmhouse and barn, tipi, Dakota summer bark lodge, and one-room schoolhouse.
