Allergy-free meal service, Safer Plate, founded by Minnesota Mom

This Minnesota mom took action into her hands and wants other parents to know about this meal service program for people living with food allergies. Inspired by her son, Safer Plate was born and is proud to be free of the top 9 allergens.

Safer Plate is a meal delivery service solution for people with food allergies, offering delivery of both make-at-home meal kits and heat-and-eat meals by allowing consumers to hit the easy button when meal planning.

Roughly 32 million people in the U.S. live with food allergies, making mealtime for those…well, complicated. (In Minnesota, we have about 200,000 people living with food allergies.)

Safer Plate is peace of mind in the form of food. Receiving a food allergy diagnosis can be confusing, alienating, and overwhelming. Angie knows this all too well as her oldest son, Liam, was diagnosed with multiple food allergies when he was six months old. This reality of checking labels, calling manufacturers, constantly worrying about cross-contamination, packing safe meals for sleepovers, travel, and more. Angie wanted a solution – for her family and the food allergy community.

The company was brought to life by allergy-mom Angie Nelson, Chef Gil Junge (former chef at Mayo Clinic), and their excellent team, all based in Minnesota.

“There’s no easy button for food allergy families to manage these things,” Nelson said. “It is straining on the family. It’s overwhelming. We want to allow families to press that easy button and get food delivered to their door that’s safe and delicious.”

The meal kit delivery service offers a weekly rotation of choices (including 50 options and growing!). They offer 8 heat-and-eat meals and soups, all free of the top allergens.

Safer Plate offers that solution – bringing families to the table together and building strong, healthy relationships with food and cooking.
