Opened on the Fourth of July in 1910, Antlers Park has been a popular attraction for decades, featuring amusements and a dance pavilion at one point. Trains used to run 12 times a day from the Twin Cities to the park to accommodate the number of visitors, per the Dakota County Historical Society. The summer traditions of swimming and boating on Lake Marion continue to this day in Lakeville. Now, visitors can enjoy all of the new renovations and amenities debuted at the park in 2024.
Historic Park Gets a Makeover
Antlers Park underwent a massive facelift, and the result is a beautifully redesigned space with a host of new amenities for families and visitors to enjoy. The upgrades include brand-new restrooms, park pavilions, and green space.
One of the primary focuses was increasing accessibility for all visitors with a new accessible playground and accessible beachfront. The park also has a wide array of paved parking options and sidewalks, which are perfect for strollers, wagons, bikes, and scooters.
Another exciting addition is the Lake Marion Regional Greenway Trailhead, which connects the area to Lakeville’s trail system for walkers, runners, and bikers.

Sun and Sand at Antlers Park in Lakeville
You just can’t beat the spectacular views of Lake Marion from Antlers Park, and if you prefer to experience the water firsthand, their large beach is a great place to take a swim. Lake Marion and Antlers Park were both recently nominated in USA Today’s Best Lake and Best Lake Beach contest! A large fishing pier makes it the perfect destination for anglers, too. There are no lifeguards on duty at the beach, so swimmers should stay within the buoyed area.
A short walk from the beach sits the train themed playground, with slides, climbing features, and plenty of benches for parents to watch from.
LBC on the Lake
Forgot to pack a picnic lunch? No worries! Lakeville Brewing Company opened a new location called “LBC on the Lake” serving up lakeside fare like pulled pork sandwiches, fried walleye, nachos, and fried pickles. Be sure to save room for a scoop of ice cream made especially for the restaurant by Plymouth’s Honey & Mackie’s.
Important to note, LBC on the Lake is cashless and accepts all major credit cards and most forms of electronic payment.
The dining area includes generous seating options with lots of picnic benches in the shade. There’s also a fire pit with cozy rocking Adirondack chairs to relax in.
