This is a Sponsored Post from Children’s Museum of South Dakota.

In the heart of a visit to Brookings, SD, is a place where children can run a farm, splash in water, climb the clouds, and meet a life-size T. rex!

The Children’s Museum of South Dakota, located in a renovated historic elementary school, is a place built for children, at just their size, with imagination and play at the core of the experience.

If you are looking for a place to make lasting memories with your family where kids of all abilities can learn through play, you must put the Children’s Museum of South Dakota at the top of your bucket list.

A Road Trip Worth Taking

From the life-size T. rex to the 2-story Cloud Climber, the Children’s Museum of South Dakota offers a place to explore for every type of child.

Each exhibit space is interconnected with more than 5,000 loose parts, or toys that travel, that make the experience brand new every time you visit.

Children can choose their own adventure in a world of open-ended exhibits designed for climbing, building, pretending, creating, experimenting, and exploring.

Let’s Take a Mini Tour

KidStreet is a place to become a mechanic, a veterinarian, a grocery store checker, a café server, or the person who connects it all together: the mail carrier.

Children test their bravery and climb to new heights, creating confidence in the 2-story Cloud Climber that overlooks the museum’s indoor prairie space.

Build something completely unexpected in the Building Square using wood, blocks, “cement,” and a variety of materials.

Cozy up in a hand-made quilt with a book in our sod house replica, or learn how to hoop dance from storyteller Dallas Chief Eagle.

The Sensations gallery features a larger-than-life Light Bright, sand spinning table, and an opportunity to paint on the wall!

The outdoor space is complete with a dinosaur fossil dig pit, water stream, dancing waters, and a music meadow. Mama T. Rex, the life-size dinosaur, and her son Max overlook it all!

There’s Always More to Explore

If you think the museum is only fun for kids, think again! Adults and grandparents have just as much fun. They can watch their children take the lead, learn through play, and enjoy the experience. They can also play along themselves!

Whether you spend the entire day or stop for a few hours during a road trip, a visit to the Children’s Museum of South Dakota will leave you wanting to come back and play some more.

Bonus Play Tip

The museum is part of the Association of Children’s Museums reciprocal network. If you are an ACM member at your local museum, you can save money on admission. Or become a member of the Children’s Museum of South Dakota and get free admission for an entire year!
