DVD Review: Phonics 4 Babies Colors & Counting

The new Phonics 4 Babies Colors & Counting DVD is the perfect video for my 12-month-old who is just starting to say his first words and my 2-and-a-half-year-old with a speech delay. Developed in association with prominent clinical advisors, speech pathologists, and child educators, Phonics 4 Babies is designed specifically to engage babies and toddlers in early speech skills and reinforces these lessons in children as old as four or five. My children love this high-energy video, the songs, the Tummy Tot characters and host Mallory Lewis. I love that the video is reinforcing the important language skills my children are learning right now. It is a bit long (40 minutes) so my boys are off on some other adventure before it ends but they continue to love this video every time it is played. The DVD concludes with an interesting (just for parents) interview with Karen Kovacs North, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist who gives some insight into how children learn language. Warning to parents: the catchy songs will replay in your head all day.
