Easter fashion

Bring on the pastels! The seersucker! The florals!

Easter is such a fun occasion to dress up the kiddos, and this spring’s new collections burst with whimsy and charm. Here are my stand-outs, including my favorite dress of the season.

First up is this floral frill-collar romper from JoJo Maman Bebe, which comes in a $39 two-pack along with a striped romper that also features a darling frill collar. (The only thing better than a frill collar is a frill collar made of eyelet fabric!)

This floral romper is sweet and playful — a perfect Easter look that is comfortable and versatile enough to also work for casual events.

Complete the look with these dainty Cat & Jack sandals in cognac for $16.99 and a white eyelet Cat & Jack bonnet for just $7.99. Does it get any cuter than that?

I didn’t think so.

Next up is another comfy cotton pick: JoJo Maman Bebe’s Green Duck A-Line Dress for $36. Available in sizes 6-12 months up to 5-6 years, with sizing that runs big, this color palette will win hearts.

It’s feminine with a sporty finish, thanks to the stripes — including pockets, which were a big hit with this 5-year-old.

Unlike all the sleeveless Easter dresses, this one is practical for a Minnesota celebration. And don’t the ducks look Midwestern? Soooo cute!

Your daughter’s Easter dress does not have to be fussy. I’d take a nice thick cotton over a synthetic polyester or tulle any day. Not only will your child be more comfortable, you’ll also get more use of the dress. I’m all for Easter outfits that can be worn long after the eggs have been found and the candy, consumed.

My third pick also delivers warmth: this $14.99 Cat & Jack bunny sweater, available in 12 month to 5T. Match the bunny’s bowtie and draw out its nose with these $11.99 pink Cat & Jack pants. (Or, if we luck out with warmer Easter weather, opt for shorts.)

And lastly, my favorite dress of the season (drum roll, please): JoJo Maman’s $49 Duck Smocked Party Dress. This winsome frock combines so many features that set my heart aflutter: a Peter Pan collar, floral embroidery and smocking.
White embroidered ducks with pink wings make the cutest finishing touch along the bottom.
It all comes together in a refreshing mint-green hue. And the seersucker fabric makes it a hardier dress that can endure rigorous play and obscure stains.
I love the fresh, preppy vibe of seersucker and the fact that it only surfaces during warm weather — a cheery sign of spring.
Seersucker makes for an especially dapper blazer. Janie & Jack is now selling a $99 blue seersucker blazer, and Gymboree has a nearly identifcal blazer on sale for $29.97.
$99 Janie & Jack blazer             $29.97 Gymboree blazer
(Ain’t it grand that Gymboree is back — and offering free shipping on all orders?!)
The price difference on the coordinating blue seersucker pants is equally striking, with Gymboree again coming in at one-third the price: $59 pants from Janie & Jack, $17.97 from Gymboree.
Complete the look with a pink bowtie and brown loafers and you’ll have the cutest future-senator on the egg hunt!
And there you have my Easter fashion round-up!
