International Owl Awareness Day Open House

The International Owl Center is celebrating International Owl Awareness Day by offering free admission to all on Monday, August 3.
Visitors will be able to meet four or five live owls including a Barred Owl, Eastern Screech-Owl, Barn Owl, Great Horned Owl and potentially a Burrowing Owl (if she agrees to come to work that day!) The Owl Center will be open from 9:30 – 5:00 and programs will be presented every hour. Expect large crowds and some programs may be standing-room only (especially in the morning).
At the Houston Community Center you’ll find owl face-painting, kids owl art from around the world, an owl garage sale, owl photography and cards, quilled owls, and owl fabric runners, wall hangings, rice bags, purses and jams.
River Valley Convenience Store will have owl-themed hand-dipped ice cream, Barista’s Coffee House will have owl-themed beverages, and JT’s Bar and Grill will have owl-themed burgers.
