Local Spotlight: Rachel Silberman of Luxjoy & Comfort

Tell us all about you and what inspired you to start Luxjoy & Comfort?

My name is Rachel Silberman, and I was born and raised in St. Louis Park, MN. I’ve always had the entrepreneurial spirit within me; it’s something I’ve always dreamed about. I love subscription boxes and decided to go into that career path, but I ended up not having the funds to take it off the ground. Then I decided to pursue subscription boxes on demand, which ended up being gift boxes. It was a journey!

Tell us all about Luxjoy & Comfort.. What can parents/kids expect?

Luxjoy & Comfort is luxury gifts that bring joy and comfort. I always have joyfulness and comfort in mind when building gifts. I have something for everyone, whether you’re a Zodiac fanatic, part of the LGBTQIA+, love to read, or a mental health advocate. I have something for everyone.

What do you love about the Twin Cities? Why is this a great community for Luxjoy & Comfort?

Pride is very big in Minneapolis, which I appreciate. I’m selling at the Pride Festival this year, and I’m excited to participate. I’ve lived in the Twin Cities my entire life (except for two years when I went to New York City. Just a tiny detour!), and this is my home. I want to bring joy to as many people in the city as possible with my gifts.

What is the best way for the Minnesota Parent community to support your business?

A free way to help is to spread the word. Follow me on social media, like posts, comment, or even share this article with other parents. I have a lot to offer parents and children on my website.

Also, if you are on the PTA committee and need gifts for teachers, students, or yourselves, let me know! I’d be happy to curate gifts for PTA needs.

What’s been your greatest joy in seeing your business grow?

My greatest joy is consistently delivering gifts and seeing clients’ faces when they find out the gift is theirs. Knowing I’m bringing them happiness gives me all the strength in the world.

How do your gifts inspire parents?

That’s an excellent question! If your child came out as non-binary (for example), you might want to show them support. The best way would be to get them my non-binary box or the coming-out box I have. 5% of all proceeds for the LGBTQIA+ boxes go to MyHealth for Teens and Young Adults. These non-profit assists teenagers up to 21 years of age with various subjects like therapy, hormone changes, LGBTQIA+ services, education, pregnancies, and so much more.

Tell us about you! Your family. What brings you joy?

I have two younger brothers (hopefully soon, they will have children so I can spoil them rotten with gifts, my specialty!) and my mom. Unfortunately, my father passed away in 2020 from Leukemia, which prompted my cancer baskets on my website. He was my biggest supporter when I started my business, and I miss him dearly. What brings me joy is my business, believe it or not! I just work all the time to make the perfect gifts, making me so happy.
