Minnesota kids making change

We had the opportunity to connect with local author, Stacy Bauer, recently on her new book series.  Stacy is a teacher and author from the Twin Cities and while she was researching history books she realized there were no books related to kids in history. She went out to learn more about how kids right now are making history! While on this quest she wrote about their mission, goals, and how they are becoming change-makers.  Her book series, Young Change Makers, is currently in a kick-starter campaign. She has 84 kids featured in her 3 part book series.  The best part to us?  Four of them are from Minnesota!

Here are those change-making kids from right here in Minnesota:

Maddy Tax-Watertown, MN  She was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at age 16, beat it, and now raises awareness and funds for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She doesn’t want any other child to go through what she went through.

Holly Hultman-St. Michael, MN 16-year-old Holly Hultman has always loved helping people and making others smile. She had an idea to write letters to soldiers and found an organization that would send them. She hopes that her cards made a difference for the people in the military who read them.

Jade VanWinkle- North Branch, MN 14-year-old Jade, has always loved helping others. She is a partner with her mom in their nonprofit Books for Better, MN. This year, they have collected and donated about 950 books to kids who need them so far. Their goal is 2000 books by the end of the year. She believes every child deserves a bedtime story.

Livia Murray- Woodbury, MN  16-year-old Livia started her own business baking food for people with food allergies.
