Annie in Willmar read Way Side School Gets a Little Stranger. Beck in Minneapolis read Jon Scieszka’s The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. Lanae in Brooklyn Center read Balto by Natalie Standiford. Elliott in Rosemount read Scoop the Backhoe (over and over again, apparently). Lots and lots of kids read Frog and Toad Are Friends.
I loved watching the Summer Reading Special forms drop into my mailbox over the past two months. I loved the kids’ earnest handwriting and sometimes surprising choices of favorite characters (Frog and Toad were neck and neck in popularity). I loved seeing the titles of classic books that took me back to my own summer days in the children’s section of the library.
Thanks for participating! I’m already looking forward to next year’s Summer Reading fun!
By the way, we love getting letters! Here are some things to keep in mind: Please use your letter to comment on something you read about in Minnesota Parent, limit them to 250 words, and include your city of residence and a daytime phone number. Send letters to mnparent@mnpubs.com.
