FREE dress rentals for any occasion!
Year after year, high school students get ready for the biggest night of the year, with hair in perfect curls, bright colored nail polish, an intricate corsage (that you are a pro at getting on), a fancy dinner, pictures with their friends, and finally, the perfect dress. We want prom to be as magical as students imagine. However, every year prom is becoming more unsustainable and expensive. That’s where we, Pass Down the Gown, a Minnesota-based, woman-run 501c3 non-profit, come in.
Pass Down the Gown aims to defray the costs of attending formal events and provide a sustainable shopping option by providing FREE dress rentals for every occasion. By taking in gently used formal dresses, they can give them a new life by renting them out for different events over and over again. Started by a high school student in 2017, we’ve rescued over 500 dresses from being sent to the landfill or left to collect dust in the back of a closet. We are proud to provide a regularly updated selection on our website for event-goers to browse and rent again and again.

Interested in getting involved!? If you have some dresses in your closet to which you want to give a second life, you can fill out a dress donation form and drop them off at Spoils of Wear.
