In the third year of its Tools for Schools program, Fox 9 is encouraging people to donate school supplies for students who can’t afford them.
The supplies – basics like notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, glue, folders, backpacks, and tape – go to Fox 9’s nonprofit partner, the World Vision Storehouse. There, teachers from eligible Minneapolis and St. Paul public schools can pick up what their students need, free of charge.
The program raised about $125,000 in school supplies in its first two years, helping about 5,000 students get the basics they need. Tools for Schools also takes some of the financial pressure off teachers, many of whom use their own money to buy classroom materials.
Donations can be dropped off at more than 30 metro-area Bremer Banks between Aug. 1 and Sept. 4. For more information, visit Fox9.com/community or call 952-946-5685.
