Target Car Seat Trade-in Event 2026
Target is running a limited-time program where you can bring in old car seats—any kind, even those that are expired, damaged, or have been in a crash—and receive a 20% off Target Circle Bonus toward the purchase of new baby gear. The goal: get unsafe seats off the road (and out of landfills), and make safety upgrades more accessible for parents.
Bring in your old car seat to be recycled and receive a 20% coupon off your next car seat purchase at your local Target store.
This event coincides with Earth Day this year to help the environment.
Don’t miss out on this (bi-annual) event. Your car seat can be traded at any Target store from April 19 – May 2, 2026.

The car seat trade-in process is super simple:
Drop-off your car seat at any Target store. Event runs 4/19–5/2.
Scan the side of the drop off box with your Target Circle app to receive 20% discount. A team member can help, if needed!
Find your bonus in your Wallet in the Target app. You can use it twice before it expires on 5/16.
Save 20% on your next car seat purchase. You can stack the bonus with other offers for even more savings.

This trade-in event benefits you and the environment as materials from the car seats are recycled by Target’s Partner. They report that since the beginning of this program in 2016 they have recycled over 35 million pounds of plastic.
What Qualifies

Any old car seat — infant, convertible, harness/booster, bases, expired, damaged, or even seats that have been in a crash.

Drop-off location: Designated boxes in participating Target stores, typically located near Guest Services.
