Garden Shops & Nurseries
Age: 16 years +
Working at a garden shop gives young teens the opportunity to care for plants and living things. The majority of their time is outdoors tending and care for plants and helping customers find items they may be looing for. This is the perfect job for a teen that has a green thumb and wants to learn more about plants, horticulture and loves being outside.
Chick-fil-a
Age: 14 years +
Who doesn’t love Chick-fil-a?! A job here for your teenager could be the right fit. They do an excellent job training their staff to be kind and courteous to their guests and they are not open on Sundays. They offer several benefits for teens, including scholarships and flexible scheduling.
Child Care Centers
Age: 16 years +
Child care centers all over the Twin Cities need extra hands during the summer months. Does your teen enjoy spending time with kids? A child care center is a great opportunity to get experience and start thinking about higher education as many centers offer education assistance for your CDA or AA degree. There are usually no nights or weekends and you spend a lot of time outdoors or possibly on field trips!
Culvers
Age: 14 years +
Join the team at your local Culver’s! They are great to work for as a teen because they are flexible with their schedules and do an excellent job training their staff.
Urban Air
Age: 16 years +
Urban Air is the ultimate indoor adventure park with a cafe and birthday party events. Check their positions available for your teen to apply for. They have two locations in the metro area.
Hy-Vee
Age: 16 years +
Your local Hy-Vee stores are popping up all over the Twin Cities. They understand that teens need flexibility and work with their schedule. There are different opportunities to apply at the Fresh Market and Wahlburgers both divisions of Hy-Vee. Plus, they train in customer service and cleanliness.
Local Ice Cream Shop
Age: 16 years +
The perfect summer job to keep your teen busy! The Twin Cities is filled with several locally owned ice cream shops. A super cool way to spend your summer. Making new friends and seeing familiar faces come through the ice cream shop!
Minnesota State Fair
Age: 16 years +
If your teen is looking for a way to end summer job with a bang! The Minnesota State Fair is where it’s at! There are many positions in admissions, Giant Slide and the mid-way, concessions, and more. Working at the great Minnesota get together will make you memories for years to come!
Lifeguard
Age: 16 years +
Does your teen love the water and sun? A job for a responsible teenager is becoming a lifeguard! The Twin Cities has many pools and beaches hiring and training for lifeguards. Call now as training for these critical positions starts soon. A good place to start is Three Rivers Park District.
Lifetime Fitness
Age: 16 years +
Lifetime Fitness Centers are located throughout the Twin Cities metro area. They offer seasonal positions, including Kids Camp Counselor, LifeCafe Team Member, Lifeguards, and more. Employees receive a free membership to Lifetime! Check out over ten locations employment opportunities here.
Movie Theater
Age: 14 years +
Summer movie releases make working at the theater a fun option. This is a great job any time of the year. There are several movie theaters located throughout the Twin Cities. Most theaters offer flex scheduling, and your teen could receive a discount on movies and popcorn.
City Parks and Rec Programs
Age: 16 years +
Your local Parks and Rec offers summer camps for kids. This may be a great seasonal job if your teen loves to be outside, working with kids, and being active. They often have Leader in Training camps available for kids ages 13-15.
Local School Districts
Age: 16 years +
Local school districts offer summer programming for children throughout the summer months and before and after school. If your teen is looking for a seasonal job working and hanging with kids, this is a good option. Check out local school districts for options available.
YMCA
Age: 16 years +
YMCA offers many opportunities for teens to work, including Camp Leader, Lifeguard, Youth Program Instructor, and more. This is an excellent opportunity for your teen to become involved in a meaningful community program.
