A new doula duo!

Best friends Kelley Larson and Rachel Kurtz are both moms (with three kiddos each) and longtime Minneapolis musicians. But guess what else they are?

Postpartum care professionals! (They’re working on getting their official postpartum doula certifications this year.)

Their new Twin Cities business, After the Baby Bump Postpartum Care, serves new mothers in their homes during the first six weeks after a baby comes.

Their goal — in a culture that’s often aloof and isolating when it comes to new parents — is to help families with the overwhelm and relentlessness of baby-rearing with personalized care.

Each week they come for a two-hour visit, swooping in together to cook, clean, do laundry, talk, capture precious photos and videos and help with the baby (or babies) as needed, allowing new parents to take a break, shower and maybe relax for a few minutes.

Six weeks of services cost $1,500, which includes help lining up friends and family to help out during those next six weeks. Consultations are free.

Get to know their brand of compassion, humor and kindness through photos and fun “Remember that one time …” videos on Instagram at @afterthebabybump. See their detailed six-week service schedule.

You can register for their services on their website or at Marabou Services, the online postpartum-care registry featured in our family life section.
