Halloween is quickly approaching, and it’s time to pick out a costume! Halloween costumes can get pricey, but TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Twin Cities have some fun and budget-friendly boxtume ideas, which are TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s take on DIY Halloween costumes that can be made with moving boxes and household items.
“Making boxtumes each year is one of our favorite activities! It is something the whole family can take part in, and most of the supplies can be found right at your house”, states director of marketing, Sally Flinck. “Store bought costumes can be expensive. Making your own costumes gives time to spend with your kids and save a little money!”
Here are some boxtume ideas from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Twin Cities that you can create for your kids and even yourself!
Butterfly Wings Halloween boxtume:
Step 1: The supplies you’ll need are a medium-sized moving box (you may want a smaller or large box depending on how tall you’re), paint, paintbrushes, markers, scissors or craft knife, a pencil, and elastic string.
Step 2: Keeping the box flat, draw one side of your desired butterfly wings where the box folds.
Step 3: Cut out your wings by cutting through both sides of the box. Once you finish, the wings will fold out into your beautiful butterfly wings
Step 4: Now it’s time to get creative! Pick out any paint colors and decorate your butterfly wings how you like. Whether that be stripes or any other details you would like.
Step 5: Once everything is dry, poke two holes at the fold of the wings and cut two pieces of elastic string. Tie the string in the two holes making arm loops and you’re ready to fly!
