Grilled pineapple

Inspired by the grilled pineapple side dish served at Brazilian steakhouses, these tasty spears pair well with grilled chicken or steak. You could also serve them with cinnamon-sugar-sprinkled vanilla ice cream and call it dessert. Going camping? Pineapple travels well. Before you go, place the dry ingredients in a large plastic bag, prep the pineapple (buy fresh pre-packed spears if you’re in a hurry) and you’re all set. Also, this recipe doubles easily.

Ingredients
½ of a pineapple, cut into spears

½ cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions
Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a large zipper-seal plastic bag.

Add the pineapple spears, close the bag tightly, and shake it so that the cinnamon and brown sugar coat the spears.

Place the pineapple in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Heat a grill to medium, about 350 to 400 degrees.

Put the pineapple spears on the grill and turn them every few minutes until all sides are grilled.
