Local Spotlight: Meet Heidi Fish & Meggie Martin from Real Life Learning Co

We are excited to introduce you to Heidi Fish & Meggie Martin.

Hi Heidi & Meggie! Tell us all about the two of you and what inspired you to start your business together.

After the pandemic, we both started homeschooling. We realized a large gap exists between what is traditionally taught in schools and the real-life skills we need to thrive as adults. This became our inspiration to create tools and resources for families to teach their children powerful real life skills that can help them become conscious, heart-centered humans.

Tell us all about your business. What can parents/kids expect?

Real Life Learning Co provides tools and resources to build a positive, loving inner dialogue. We provide a line of growth mindset journals, a cohesive and interactive program called the Real Life Learning method, as well as other various tools. The Real Life Learning Method is a roadmap of 9 different subjects that aren’t traditionally taught in schools such as mindset, nutrition, money management, communication, entrepreneurship and more.

What do you love about the Twin Cities? Why is this a great community for local small businesses?

We love all of the outdoor parks and places to explore. We love the arts and theater opportunities. The Twin Cities attracts open-minded, engaged families.

What is the best way for the Minnesota Parent community to support your business?

We would love to get our growth mindset journals into schools and as many individual families as we can to help build a healthy mindset at a young age. We always appreciate any engagement on our social media channels!

How does your business/product inspire parents and their children?

We inspire families to learn and grow together. There is so much learning that happens outside traditional schooling. Real Life Learning Co gives the tools and roadmaps to have quality conversations and learning opportunities that will continue to serve families through childhood, adolescence and beyond.

Tell us about you! Your family, why you love being a parent. What brings you joy?

Meggie: I am a wife and mom of 4 littles. I love watching my kids grow and learn and experience life through their eyes. Family outings and adventures bring me joy.

Heidi: I am wife, a mom of twin 9 year old girls and two fur babies. I love learning with my girls; sometimes I think I learn more from them than they do from me. I find a lot of joy being in nature and being creative.

Tell us about your favorite places to go with your kids? Restaurants, roads trips, parks etc.

Meggie: Lowry Nature Center is one of our favorite spots. We love road trips – we have been to Texas, several more local trips and hope to take a road trip south this spring.

Heidi: We love all of the Dakota County parks, especially Whitetail Woods Regional park. We love taking a spring trip to a tiny house to disconnect and spend quality time together. The girls have also really gotten into downhill skiing this winter – the 4th grade MN pass is so great!

Anything else you want to share?

We would love to get our growth mindset journals into schools and as many individual families as we can to help build a healthy mindset at a young age. [If you are a teacher, school administrator or involved in PTA/PTO, and are open to integrating our journals into your classrooms, please reach out!]  Thank you for letting us be a part of Minnesota Parent community!
