The new ACHIEVE Scholarship will help students cover the cost of the first year’s tuition at a Minnesota college. “The purpose of the scholarship is to address two issues: lack of academic preparation and the growing financial need,” said Barb Schlaefer, director of communications for the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. To be eligible for the one-time, $1,200 scholarship, students must complete a set of required advanced-level courses and have a family income of less than $75,000. Students can begin applying for the scholarship in January 2008. For more information, go to GetReadyForCollege.org/achieve.
