We are always looking for new ways to keep our kids engaged through play. After all, the job of all kids is to play! We connected with Jessica Naiberg, a mom of two boys and an Occupational Therapist from Sora Pediatric Therapy to learn more about what their team uses to help kids learn, develop and grow through play.
Jessica suggests looking for toys that will keep your child’s interest, looking for toys that are developmentally appropriate for your child, and again making sure they will keep their interest!
Sensory-motor play helps with development in so many ways! These types of play toys go a long way:
- Slime
- Play-Doh
- Water Play
- Flashlights & Light up Ice Cubes (new to the market!)
- Bathtub crayons
She also suggests experiencing gifts through play! A trip to the zoo, a day at their favorite park, sledding in the winter, or a bike ride in the summer with an aunt or uncle are great options too!
The team at Sora Pediatric Therapy put together a holiday wish list! You can find all those items posted on their Facebook page! Here are a few.
