Parent Night Out | How Hiring a Babysitter Has Changed

Throughout the past year and a half, the family dynamic has changed. We needed to shift and rearrange overnight to accommodate an updated way of life. While we thought these were temporary shifts we have recognized that they are not! We have had the chance to bond with each other like never before! For some, this bonding time has been just what their family needed and for others, well, parents need a break!

We had the opportunity to connect with Laura Davis from College Nannies + Sitters on how parents can get out and spend time together as a couple. What they are hearing is that parents are going out to events, shows, and dinner! Concerts and social gatherings are back and parents are ready to reclaim time together and have fun!

What has changed is how parents are finding a sitter, what they need in a sitter for their kids, and some parents are hesitant to have a sitter in their home but with some pre-planning and making sure to ask the right questions, parents can feel confident going out for a date night.

College Nannies + Sitters shared these tips for successfully finding the perfect sitter for your family:

  • Ask the questions that are most important to you. The top question is about health and safety! Ask how many families are they currently sitting for.
  • Be sure to ask for references!
  • Preplan-make sure you have a couple of sitters that work well for your family in case one of them is feeling under the weather.
  • Ask friends and neighbors for referrals or a service like College Nannies + Sitters can come in very helpful.

Where is your next date night?
We recently headed to Falling Knife Brewery for beer and pinball! Our next stop was The Market at Malcolm Yards for a quick bite to eat, O’Shaunshey Distillery for another bite to eat (stay tuned for a full review of this beautiful distillery), and then headed next door to Surly! It sure was nice to get out and enjoy what Minneapolis has to offer!
