Family Experiences are the Heart of this Story

We had the opportunity to talk with Kristy Boike, the author of the newly released children’s book, Rise Up Little Bluebirds.

All stories begin when something happens.  This story began when Kristy’s mom passed away and her dad needed to use his hands to heal his heart.  He started building bluebird houses in the garage.  The birdhouses were beautiful and well received! They were posted to Facebook marketplace and sold out over and over again! The community came together as they heard the story behind the birdhouses and they shared their stories of loss with each other.

As the business grew all members of the family pitched in to help! They helped paint the birdhouses, they created community groups to start building the birdhouses and they started partnering with local garden centers to sell the birdhouses!

Through all this, Kristy began writing about her experiences and turned these messages and into a children’s book. She understood how sharing her family’s stories made others connect with them and this whole experience changed the course of her life.  A community has been built and this story shows children how to heal a loss with the help of others.

The book is beautifully written and illustrated and has a sweet message that many need in a time of loss to help heal their hearts.

This book is available for purchase here: Rise Up, Little Bluebirds.
