What’s New at the Minnesota Zoo This Summer

Your summer reaches new heights when the Treetop Trail opens July 28 at the Minnesota Zoo. The Treetop Trail will take your family up to 32 feet above the ground and 1.25 miles around the Zoo. Built on the former monorail track, the trail brings you a bird’s-eye view of the natural habitats of animals, including tigers, bison, and moose.

Every day on the Treetop Trail, you could encounter ambassador animals that are native to Minnesota, like a porcupine, opossum, or skunk. With the help of these animals and expert naturalists, you’ll learn about the wild world around us. Guided tours give you the history of the monorail and how it’s been reimagined as the world’s longest elevated pedestrian loop.

The trail is accessible via stairs, ramps, and elevators; it provides a stable surface for strollers, wheelchairs, and mobility assists. Enter and exit the trail at numerous points, including at Hanifl Nature Center, a hub of activity with nature art exhibits, restrooms, elevators, and easy access to the Farm and Conservation Carousel.

Dino Hideout is Your Prehistoric Place to Play

Once you’ve roamed the Treetop Trail, come time travel to when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. Dino Hideout features realistic animatronic dinosaurs that move and roar.  The dino fans in your family will dig T. rex, triceratops, and allosaurus. Plus, there’s a brand-new natural play area in Dino Hideout that lets your explorers stretch their legs—while you enjoy the shade. You’ve seen dinosaurs as fossils, now see them colossal!

You’ll Love Llama Trek

Take a trip to the Andes—without leaving the Zoo! When you walk through Llama Trek, you’ll have minimal separation from the animals. Come see llamas lunching, munching, grooming, and snoozing. Llama Trek is included with your Zoo admission. For additional fees, you can feed a llama, walk a llama along a path, and take a camel ride.

Wow! Wings World of Birds Show is Back

Come take an avian adventure at the Wings World of Birds Show and be amazed by birds’ natural abilities. Join the flock for an entertaining and educational show outdoors twice daily.

Can’t get enough of feathered friends? Head to the indoor Wings & Things show, offered twice daily. In this 20-minute program, you’ll meet birds, prickly porcupines, and more animals in action.

Splash Into Summer at the Zoo

Sea them before they head home: the Brookfield Zoo dolphins are here through Labor Day! Cruise into Discovery Bay for dolphin training demonstrations. Demonstrations are included with Zoo entry, but you must reserve your seats when you purchase Zoo admission tickets.

Come climb at play areas or cool off at the splash pad. The water jets are running and ready! Bring a picnic or treat yourself to the Zoo’s menu of fresh food, cold drinks, and ice cream.
