Summer Activities

Centennial Lakes Park transforms into a lively hub for family-friendly activities during the warmer months. One of the park’s highlights is renting paddle boats, including charming swan boats, which allow you to explore the interconnected lakes leisurely. The park’s water system includes three small lakes connected by narrow canals. There is something truly magical about gliding under picturesque bridges while enjoying a beautiful Minnesota day!

The park offers a putting green course for those looking for a little friendly competition. The courts are open for public use and perfect for a relaxed game with kids. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player, this is a fun outdoor summer activity to try!

If you’re in the mood just to stroll, the Edina Promenade, a 0.75-mile greenway, is a great place to walk or bike. This paved path connects Centennial Lakes Park to the surrounding area, offering beautiful views, art installations, and lush gardens along the way. There are plenty of places to stop and rest, as well. Or, bring picnic supplies to enjoy some fun in the sun!

Winter Activities

When winter arrives, Centennial Lakes Park becomes a snowy wonderland. The park continues to offer fun outdoor activities for the whole family.

The park’s 10-acre lake is groomed daily for ice skating, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a classic Minnesota winter experience. The ice is well-maintained, and families can skate along the canals or under one of the park’s charming pedestrian bridges. For those who enjoy a little more action, the lake also accommodates pick-up hockey games, though it’s always best to check with staff about designated areas for hockey. It’s free to skate if you bring your own pair.

If you’re not bringing your own skates, there’s no need to worry—rentals, including skate pushers/supports, are available on-site. The on-site warming house is a great place to lace up. Plus, you can grab a snack and cozy up by the fire. The twinkling lights that adorn the park at night add an enchanting touch to evening visits.
