Meatballs and Marinara Recipe


Grandma’s recipe that still hits the spot and is budget-friendly! A combination of ground beef, rice, and seasonings topped with warm marinara, it just makes us happy!

Makes 6 servings. Prep and Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

3 Tbsp rice, instant, uncooked
3 Tbsp water
1 large egg
12 oz ground beef, fresh or frozen (thawed)
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp oregano, fresh or dried
½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
⅛ tsp black pepper
1½ cups marinara sauce (of your choosing)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 400 °F.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine rice and water, cover. Microwave for 3 minutes or until rice is tender.  Fluff and allow rice to cool for 5 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, whisk egg.
  • In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg, cooked rice, onion powder, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Mix.
  • Divide mixture into 12 even portions and roll into balls.
  • Place meatballs on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. Heat to 165 °F or higher. Remove from oven.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, add marinara sauce, cover. Heat marinara sauce for 2 minutes.
  • Serve 2 meatballs with ¼ cup sauce. Serve immediately and ENJOY!
